Landis+Gyr Receives Wi-SUN Certification for Revelo, the Next Generation Grid Sensing Smart Meter

Revelo is the first ANSI residential meter to receive certification and joins Landis+Gyr’s Network Bridge and Network Node as FAN 1.0 certified devices.

ATLANTA, GA. – July 6, 2022 – Landis+Gyr (SIX: LAND) today announced the successful certification of its next generation grid sensing metering platform, Revelo^®, to the Wi-SUN FAN 1.0 standard for field area networks.

Interoperability of network devices is a key requirement to address grid challenges, such as the increase in distributed generation and electrification of transportation, that require swifter grid responsiveness and edge intelligence. Revelo is the first residential grid edge intelligence platform certified for interoperable communication with any Wi-SUN capable network. Earlier this year, Revelo received Wi-Fi certification as well, enabling consumer energy management functions over Wi-Fi networks.

Field area networks provide coverage for communicating utility assets such as smart meters, sensors and automation devices. With a growing market for grid-edge applications, the use of common standards for FAN connectivity broadens the options available and will help speed development of new devices.

Wi-SUN’s FAN Certification Program provides compliance testing of network components and devices to a communications profile developed from applicable open standards and certifies the product’s ability to interoperate. All Wi-SUN certified products are rigorously tested by a third-party test lab to ensure the devices work together effortlessly and securely. Certified devices include a digital certificate to authenticate entry to a Wi-SUN FAN network, which significantly reduces vulnerability to cyber security threats.
