Landis+Gyr Positioned as a “Leader” in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Meter Data Management Products
ATLANTA, GA. – Feb. 2, 2017 – For the second consecutive year, Landis+Gyr, a global leader in transforming the way energy is delivered and managed, has been designated a leader in Gartner, Inc.’s Magic Quadrant for MDM products. In its recently published report, Gartner recognized Landis+Gyr for its completeness of vision and ability to execute in the areas of scalability, profitability, revenue growth and presence in all major markets.
Gartner bases its leadership rankings on the ability of a vendor to pair advanced technology with the functionality and capabilities to configure a solution to a variety of needs. In addition, vendors must demonstrate the financial strength necessary to fund research and development to support future requirements.
“As a global solutions provider, offering an end-to-end data management platform and utility specific integration expertise, we believe this recognition affirms our consistent product performance and readiness to meet the current and future needs of our customers,” said Dave Connaker, General Manager of Landis+Gyr’s MDMS Solutions. “Landis+Gyr remains strongly committed to helping utilities of all sizes and geographies meet emerging market requirements with continued investments in product innovation and resources to ensure an efficient and flexible distribution grid.”
Landis+Gyr’s Meter Data Management System operates as part of a connected network platform that extends intelligent applications to the grid edge and supports an IoT framework. The MDMS delivers event analysis to improve outage detection and theft detection, and also can support prepayment roll-outs. It can be implemented and managed by the utility or selected in either a SaaS or fully managed service model.
Recently, Landis+Gyr was selected by Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) to manage the utility’s smart grid. Landis+Gyr will provide NPPD a Meter Data Management System, Advanced Meter Infrastruture (AMI) and a Demand Management System. NPPD is a public power district organized under the state of Nebraska with wholesale and retail operations helping to serve about 600K consumers.
Landis+Gyr’s global meter data management customers include the largest power company in Japan, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO); the largest North American MDMS deployment at Pacific Gas & Electric; one of the leading energy groups in Northern Europe, Danish Oil and Natural Gas (DONG Energy); and multiple North American utilities, including We Energies and Ameren.
