Florida utility adds Gridstream® AMI and MDMS solution to modernize grid
ATLANTA, GA. – Aug. 2, 2018 – Landis+Gyr (Swiss: LAND.SW) announced an agreement with Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) to supply advanced metering infrastructure and a meter data management system to support the Florida utility’s 74,000 customers.
As part of the agreement, Landis+Gyr will deploy its Gridstream AMI solution, including network infrastructure and 80,000 residential and commercial meters. Data from the system will be processed with Landis+Gyr’s MDMS software supporting relevant operations and customer information systems.
KUA owns and operates the municipal electric system for the City of Kissimmee, FL. It is the sixth largest municipally-owned electric utility in the state.
“We expect this project to be the backbone for our grid modernization efforts going forward,” said Brian Horton, KUA’s Vice President of Engineering and Operations. “Access to near real-time information is crucial for managing reliability, customer service and overall efficiency.”
As part of the Gridstream Connect platform, Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream AMI solution’s networking, software, and intelligent metering and sensor devices allow utilities to select and implement the features and programs needed to improve efficiency and customer service.
