In the South African market the need for smart metering is growing rapidly. One of the key features of a smart meter is the ability to control the primary household loads such as the hot water geyser for purposes of Demand Side Management (DSM).

Landis+Gyr have a dedicated team of service staff to provide you with the best possible service on all our metering and systems product range.

Increasingly, utilities need more accurate information from their customers about how much energy they’re using and when they’re using it. And to manage rising energy prices, customers need more information from their utility about the implications of their energy usage. Landis+Gyr has the products and solutions to solve these needs.

Landis+Gyr has introduced a prepayment electricity Vending Bureau service aimed mainly at Property Managing agents, Landlords and Body Corporates. These entities can now implement prepayment electricity metering for their tenants enabling them to collect  revenue for their tenants’ electricity consumption in advance, in a cost effective way that eliminates bad debt and cashflow problems.

In a fast growing market, energy suppliers are facing a major challenge: They must guarantee high network quality to protect income losses caused by manipulation at the metering point, and although this is expensive, it is key to their success. To meet this specific demand, Landis+Gyr has developed the ZxG series which is a cost effective maximum demand metering solution.

At this year’s African Utility Week held in Cape Town in May, we showcased our wide range of prepayment metering and innovative smart metering solutions to energy companies from across the country and many parts of Africa, while also reinforcing our message to “manage energy better”.

At the beginning of 2008, Landis+Gyr South Africa conducted a customer survey. You told us your needs – here we’re telling you what we’re doing to match them.

Landis+Gyr has introduced scratch cards to assist electricity utilities provide an even better and wider service to their customers by making the purchase of electricity easier and even more convenient.

Landis+Gyr’s Cashpower Suprima vending system was developed as an open system enabling it to accommodate new technologies as and when they became available. The objective was to have a versatile system that would enable Landis+Gyr to easily introduce value-added products to its customers as new technologies emerged.

Landis+Gyr’s powerful Cashpower Suprima prepayment vending system features the e-Vend graphical thin-client vending application, which provides utilities with the flexibility to vend from remote offices. It operates within a standard Internet web browser, such as MS Internet Explorer or Firefox and runs off a standard computer without the need for a database. e-Vend operates on-line to the utility’s main server via existing lower bandwidth wide area networks (WAN).
