Our environmental and safety policies reflect our responsibility towards the environment and society. Protecting the environment, dealing carefully with resources and meeting technical safety requirements are at the forefront of everything we do.  We continually strive for improvement, and look for new ways to contribute to sustainable development for the benefit of future generations.

To this end, we use and develop technologies that enable an efficient use of resources and optimize environmental benefits. Environmental impact and technical safety are critical elements of social responsibility, and we have developed a set of principles and guidelines that form an integral part of our business philosophy and processes – from purchasing, through development and manufacturing to sales and services. Through these guidelines and policies, we hope to help set industry standards with regards to harmful emissions and environmental hazards.

We continuously aim to reduce environmental damage, to minimize the corresponding risks and to further reduce energy and material requirements. Our goal is to set our industry’s standards with these values. We introduce all necessary measures to protect our environment and our employees from risk and danger. Potential risks for the environment and mankind are evaluated and integrated at the earliest possible moment in product development and process planning.

Each of our manufacturing plants fulfills the EN ISO 14001 Standard, as a minimum requirement, and has the necessary expertise and resources. These are also used for the effective implementation of our environmental and safety guidelines. The technical and organizational provisions are regularly inspected and continuously improved. Achievements and further improvements are evaluated during the course of the yearly evaluation and target agreement process.

We expect and require that our employees meet our defined environmental and safety requirements. Management’s ongoing task is to foster the corresponding awareness and personal responsibility in every employee.

Environmental protection and safety is part of every employee’s job. Meeting legal guidelines and Landis+Gyr’s own more stringent requirements have top priority. In collaboration with our partners, we encourage compliance with agreed goals. We cooperate with authorities. We inform customers and the public about ecological advantages and about possible dangers of our products and processes. Moreover, we advise our customers on the best usage of our products throughout their entire life cycle.
