Communication systems are a key component of an intelligent distribution grid. They provide the ability to automate distribution processes, collect and transmit information about network events, and remotely control grid operations. The Gridstream network is an RF mesh network proven to efficiently deploy for a variety of applications. The network allows utilities to more efficiently distribute power, improve system maintenance and provide better customer service. When used for distribution automation, Gridstream enables:
- Remote communication with any part of the distribution system, from substation to the end user
- Peer-to-peer communication, allowing intelligent devices to operate with or without outside intervention
- Automated applications for outage response, voltage and power factor control, fault detection and more
The Gridstream DA network may be deployed to provide communications to devices across the distribution system or in a pocket network to meet a specific automation or information need.
