ENTEGA Service uses Landis+Gyr technology to strengthen its position as leading metering service provider

ENTEGA Service has approximately 230 employees and services 1 million meter points. The company sends out 1.9 million bills and 3 million other mailing pieces annually in the name of its customers. Founded in 2003 as an independent full-service provider for the utilities industry, ENTEGA services its customers across the entire value chain, from the meter to billing and settlement.

“Our intention is to become the leading independent full service provider in Germany,” says ENTEGA’s Chief Executive Johannes Büssermann, describing the growth strategy of the service company.

Smart Metering for new buildings in Germany from 2010
In Germany, all new buildings  must be equipped with smart meters from 2010. This will give consumers the freedom to choose their energy supplier as well as provide them with more frequent and accurate energy bills based on real-time data.

ENTEGA Service is pioneering positive change in this growing market. “We will capitalize on the advantages of the latest Smart Metering Infrastructure as soon as possible,” adds Büssermann.

The communication between the meters and the Landis+Gyr system is based on PLC, GPRS or, later, Ethernet. The system software uses international standards and is open for gas, water and heat meters, enabling multi-energy Advanced Meter Management. Additionally, the system can be linked via a MDUS interface with an existing SAP-ERP system, thereby creating seamless IT processes.
