Carbon Reporting

Landis+Gyr is committed to a sustainable use of resources. This includes an effort to reduce its carbon emissions.

As a first step the company took the initiative to measure its carbon footprint in 2007. Currently we directly produce 40,400t CO2. Compared to other industries this is relatively small. There are several components to this figure. 7,100t comes from our own non-electricity operations and 27,800t comes from our own electricity consumption. The rest, 5,500t, comes from air travel.

Methodology

The project was undertaken in accordance with the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standards. The GHG protocol considers three scopes. Under their guidelines scopes 1 and 2 must be reported while scope 3 is optional.

In 2008 the measurement process continued, and when appropriately audited and verified, the carbon footprint data of Landis+Gyr for 2008 will be published.
